Abstract Family of trochoids and envelopes serve as profiles for the stators and rotors of rotary piston engines. They Statisfy the Condition for maintaining contact between the rotor and stator at a number of points and for providing suitably varying chamber-volumes for the engine cycle. A method is derived to find the parametric equations of the envelopes of trachoids which perform a planetary motion. for the wankel engine, methodss of numberical analysis are used to determine the position of the rotor and to calculate the volume of each chamber as functions of the angle of rotation. Finally the compression ratio of the engine is calculated. |
