Abstract
For viscoelastic type of stringsit isknown that changing the tension in cyclic order affects the strain. The tension - strain relation has been recorded for a Nylon string. Mathematical relations has been obtained using optimization technique.
Equations of motion of a moving string has been obtained taking into account the effect of strain and air drag.
A numerical technique was used to solve the equations. The effect of vibration on the cross-sectional area of the string is obtained.
