Abstract
In the pr0cess of carding~ which is a necessit.Y in the cotton industry, cotton tufts are reduced into a sma ller fibre agtregates spread’ in a filmy web. In the present work~ a measure for the degree of fibre associction was introduoed,’using a pboto-eleotric cell technique. The a·ff ect of the main variables of the carding ma.chine and their interactions OD the ch~racteristios of the carding web have been.studied. An optimization technique Gofilld out a limit for high production carding rates” of accepta.ble quality for some Egypi.tancottons was introduced. - Finally a trial was made for the ev~luation of the effect of introduced measure of fibre. association, on the qualit3 of spun yarn~.
