Abstract
Central nicodnic receptors have been shown to be associated with some CNS disorders, such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases. Very limited effort was expended in the literature for the investigation of these receptors. The most potent and selective agonist known was nicotine itself. The objectives of the present study were therefore directed towards the delineation of the structure affinity requirements of these receptors. Certain nicotine analogs were thus chosen to serve as models for designing and synthesis of novel selective nicotinic agonists.
