Abstract Programmable logical controllers (PLCs) are among the most powerfultoois that are used to control many industrial systems in the recent years. This thesis discusses the development of theautomated systemsusingPLCs.Moreover, it presents a case study for interconnected PLCs that control a production line for producingpolyethelene pallets. The system consists of 3 product lines, each isassociated with 2 PLCs, one for the •weighing, sealing:l”d printing perations, and the other for thepalletizing operation. In addition, another PLC is used to transfer pallets from different product lines to the wrapping machine.A description for every PLC is included to identify the required operations, input signals, output signals and the communication system required to implement the controlled system. The function chart (GRAFCET)representation and the statement list of the program are presented. |
