Abstract Many research showed the important of using Alumina cement in refractory concrete. As the Alumina cement content increases the cube compressive strength increases. Also these researches showed that there is still a conflict in the conclusion obtained by different researches on the properties of this concrete. The object of this study is to decrease the cost of production by replacement of Alumina cement to kaolin powder as a constituent to Alumina cement. Thus this research studied the properties if Alumina cement, Alumina cement with kaolin powder as a binder in concrete such as consistency, cube compressive strength before fire cycles and thermal conductivity. In order to study the effect of binder type on the previous properties the following variables were considered, the type of cement(Two types of cement)the cement content and kaolin powder content.
