Abstract

;As outlined by its name , this thesis is mainly concerned with the vector control of uction machine . The problems underlying this control technique are not only )rated in the suitability of the controllers that can be designed to accomplish exactly uired tasks of the system, but also in the actual implementation of the controller that s as expected and as designed . The purpose of this thesis is to first introduce a etview of the modem and contemporary trends in the field of induction motor ntrol with the possibility of their implementation through the presence of the switching transistorized inverters and the presence of fast digital signal ,alleviate a great deal the effort performed by system designers. width modulation ( PWM ) techniques for voltage fed inverters are quickly ’~eir two main types , namely the feedfOIward and the feedback schemes . alysis was studied for some of the available techniques and their suitability tor control were examined and evaluated through software simulations . ’ques of optimized feedforward modulation were also reviewed especially n the space vector modulation techniques and their descendant methods rrent control and optimization . ’various nonlinear modelling techniques of the induction machine dynamical also performed in this thesis and for the first time , a review of all the ,models available in the literature were deduced and then some of them were ntrol system design and state estimator formulations . The technique the space phasor method was fully developed and investigated . It was also bsequent proof formlllas of any kind . The nonlinear state space model of the also developed in the thesis and was used in the system simulation .
vector control techniques were also reviewed and in some details concerning its various implementation methods . The ordinary direct and indirect methods of 01 as well as the universal methods were treated thoroughly and investigated ensive simulations . Some of the most important and most outstanding . tation technique were also reviewed especially those incorporating flux or speed . The state estimation and parameter adaptation was very briefly outlined .
mplete simulation software package was presented that included the discussed cases. The induction motor was simulated and care was certain system nonlinearities that are normally neglected by most system include the resistance variation with temperature and the variation of the t of the machine and load system with their corresponding speeds . Also, the mutual inductance with the operating conditions , ranging from the . ts that causes the saturation of the machine iron core to the frequency effects inductance of the machine, was outlined and its effects were included in the ction machine model obtained was then faced with various types of inversion n those of the six stepped methods. The harmonic contents of the resulting re analyzed and the machine performance under each of them was separately e feedback schemes of current control were also investigated , represented hysteresis methods . Finally the vector control techniques were applied to reflect the merits and drawbacks of each . The package so obtained can dalone demonstration mean for the inverter topologies and vector control well as being a one step ahead building block for more sophisticated control
