Abstract
The present study was undertaken to assess the metabolic alterations induced by STZ and fructose-rich diet in rats. For this purpose five groups of rats (ten each) were used and assembled in two rat models : A type I diabetic model obtained by streptozotocin injection to rat (STZ-diabetic), followed or not by insulin treatment (experiment 1). A type 2 diabetic model obtained by feeding rat with a fructose rich diet (Type II–diabetic), followed or not by rosiglitazone treatment (experiment 2 Group Treatment-Control group Fed standard diet and maintained for 8 weeks. 2-STZ-diabetic g.(type I)Fed chow diet, received by intraperitoneal injection a single dose of streptozotocin 65mg/kg body wt. and maintained For 8 week. 3-STZ-diabetic g. +insulin Fed chow diet and received by subcutaneous injection a single dose of streptozotocin 65 mg/kg body wt. Later after 4 weeks treated with 15 unit/kg S.C of insulin once per day for another 4 weeks.
