Abstract The objective of the present research is to study the the air washers having different water The basic equations governing the air washer behavior were formulated and solved numerically. <The numerical solution helped in predicting the washer per.formance as well as in evaluating the transfer processes that take place during the operation of the air washer. A computer program was constructed to simulate the operations which take place during the different spraying The cases investigated differ according to the of sprayed water relative to the air flow through the air washer chamber. The modes include the pure para 11 el, pur e co un t era n d c 0 un t e r - par a 11 e 1 sit u at ion s . The washer characteristics in the case of the counter-parallel modes were obtained for three counter to parallel water mass flow ratios namely 1 :2, 1:1 and 2:1. The theoretical program encompasses runs with the weather condition of Sebha town in Libya. The washer effectiveness, number of transfer units, mass and heat transfer coefficients were2 theoretically, and measured experimentally. Comparison between the theoretical and experimental ’characteristics in the case of the three water spray modes in )~he air washer were investigated. It was discovered that the aracteristics vary not with the wetting ratio but rather with the wetting flow Reynolds number raised to a negative The possibility of the application of air washers in the of Sebha in Libya was also explored. |
