Abstract
Tow experiments were carried out in this study. The 1st experiment
was conducted to determine the economical combination of protein and
feeding rate (1. 2 and 3% of biomass weight daily in duplicates) for
fingerlings of rabbitfish. Siganus riv.ulatus. The 2nd experiment was
conducted to determine the economical combination of energy levels
(3883; 4056 and 4360 kcallkg diet) and feeding rate (2 and 4% of body
weight/day for 98 days) on growth, feed conversion, nutrient retention.
carcass and viscera composition, apparent nutrient digestibility and cost
benefit analysis. Twelve net cages, each with dimensions of 1 xl xO.5 m
were stocked with 10 fingerlings averaging 10 g/fish initial weight.
In the I st experiment results indicated that no interaction between
dietray protein and feeding rate on final body weight, specific growth rate
and feed conversion ratio, however the final body weight, gain and
specific growth rate were improved by increasing of dietray protein levels
at the same feeding rate. In the 2 nd experiment final body weight, gain
and specific growth rate were increased with an increased in dietary
energy level at 2% feeding rate but no trends were evident at 4% feeding
rate. Feed conversion (FeR), protein efficiency ratio (PER), productive
protein value (PPV%) and energy retention (ER %) were higher when fish
were fed at 2% than those were at 4% feeding rate.
