IN THIS THESE MAXWELL EQUATIONS ARE SOLVED IN THE TIME DOMAIN USING THE FINITE DIFFERENCE TIME DOMAIN METHOD. THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE METHOD IS VERIFIED BY COMPARING ITS RESULTS BY THEORETICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL PUBLISHED RESULTS. THE FINITE DIFFERENCE TIME DOMAAIN METHOD IS USED TO INVESTIGATE THE PERFORMANCE OF DIELECTRIC RESONATOR ANTENNAS (DRAS) OVER DIFFERENT FINITE SIZE GROUND PLANE SHAPES, INCIUDING THE ELECTROMAGNETIC BAND GAP GROUNDS. THE INVESTIGATION INVOLVES THE EFFECT OF THE GROUND PLANE SHAPES ON THE RETURN LOSS, THE INPUT IMPEDANCE, THE RADIATION PATTERN, THE CIRCULAR POLARIZATION, AND THE MUTUAL COUPLING BETWEEN THE ANTENNAS.
FINITE DIFFERANCE TIME DOMAIN ETHOD IS USED TO INVESTIGATE THE PERFORMANCE OF A MODIFIED DRA THAT OPERATES NEAR THE UMTS BAND IN MOBILE SYSTEM. THE INVESTIGATION INCLUDES THE PERFORMANCE OF THE DRA OVER CONDUCTION BOXES THAR SIMULATE THE MOBILE HANDSET.
