It is now gene~ rally accepted that the disease is due to infection by Klebsiella rhinoacleromatia , The bacillus can be isulated frum nearly every patients • It disap~eara with clinical cure .Lastly animal inoculation haa been reported to reproduce scleroma like lesions and the organism could be rec’. lveredtrom the experllll:ntallesion • The organism can ~ isolated from ~atienta either by taking a nasal swabs or examination a piece of tissue. The organism can be cultured on bloud agar or chololate agar • Many antibiotic have been tried in the treatment of rhinoscleroma • The m.lst commonly used drugs are the following:- I) Strepto~cin: On in vitro sensit~vity teat. it is found that --- - ”------------ ---- -- - -------- ,- - 82 - the organism shuws variable de6ree of sensitivity ( highly and moderately sensitive ) alsu in vivo it gives variable de~ee of healing with great tendency to reccurrance • Moreover streptomycin is tuxic to 8 th cranial nerve.
