Abstract Fatigue tests were conducted on single-edge-notch (SEN) specimens of 7075-T6 Al alloy with different initial crack lengths . Acoustic emission (AE) technique is used to study the fatigue crack behaviour . The results show that the acoustic emission data can be related to the fatigue crack ;arameters . The acoustic emission technique that is used in the present research is the ring-down counting technique _:Y its simplicity and practical effectiveness The number of acoustic emission counts shows a direct dependence on the crack advance . a mathematical equation as proposed to describe this relation . -he number of acoustic emission counts shows a strong relation with the elastic - strain energy released by the crack advance this relation is expressed in a mathematical formula . |
