Abstract Power system contingency analysis techniques are on¬line application techniques. Its validity achieved as they could give an accurate quick view for system after sudden or orderly system network contingency occurrence. This should be done with less computational time, storage, and size. This research introduces three fast and reliable techniques for on-line contingency analysis applications based on three different princaples. The first technique is an approximate one, called a linear decoupled contingency analysis algorithm. It is a simple non-iterative algorithm derived from the approximate DC loadflow method. It implements the linear relations between system bus injected active and reactive powers with bus phase angle and voltage magnitudes coupled together in one algorithm. The technique takes into consideration the second order changes in both active and reactive power relations, if the system contingencies occur. The second order terms highly improved the technique results compared with any other previous technique proposed on the same bases. The second technique is an exact iterative contingency analysis algorithm. It is a trial to handle the exact contingency problem to introduce an on-line fast technique |
