Abstract
Many researches showed the importance of using plasticized and superplasticized concrete such as the increase in the rate of placing concrete particulary in difficult situa¬tions,reduce need to vibration,shortening of programme time and improve strength properties.Also these researches showed that there are still a conflict in the conclusion obtained by different researchers on the properties of this concrete and rightnow there is no a distinct line to design a con¬crete mix.Thus this research studied the properties of plasticized and superplasticized concrete such as workability,stiffening time,compressive strength,tensile il strength,bond strength,modulus of elasticity and drying shrinkage and design of these types of concrete.In order to study the effect of plasticizers and superplas¬ticizers on the previous properties the following variables were considered;the type of admixtures(two types of plas¬ticizers and two types of superplasticizers),the dosages of each admixtures,the cement content and the water cement ratio.This study showed that the use of plasticizers and super-plasticizers improved strength properties,the shrinkage of these plasticized and superplasticized concrete are higher than that of control mix with the same mix proportion,also the cost of plasticized concrete is lower than that of con¬trol mix.
