Abstract Computer networking has changed enormously over the past decade. Few years the design of computer network was something of a black art. Every computer manufacturer had its own network of architecture, most of them were not compatible. All of changed now. Virtually the entire international computer has now agreed to a series of standards for describing network architectures known. Thesis studies the transport layer and the performance evaluation of its protocols. Asimulator is introduced for such protocol. The presented simulator implements class four error recovery and error detection mechanisms using the ISO standards as guide and reference. <b This thesis consists of six chapters. Chapter one is an introduction. It present a literature review on the transport layer protocol. It also offers the importance of the transport layer within the network architecture, and it contains a general idea about the OSI standards architecture and protocols. Finally it offers the motivation of this research. In Chapter transport layer, two, the services II- main design provided by issues. |
