Abstract

I- The first part deals with a general survey of the literature of the
electrochemical and corrosion behavior of Sn, In and Sn-In alloys
in various media. A little work has been done on In and Sn-In
alloys in acidic solutions. Polarization measurements showed that
Sn electrode is readily passivated in acidic media. Electrochemical
techniques have shown that the oxide film on Sn surface consists
of two layers. However, there are few researches on Sn-In alloys
have been done. The previous studies were concerned with the
variation of corrosion current with temperature and oxide film
which formed on tested electrode surface. But the potentiodynamic
measurements of In and Sn-In alloys have not yet been
investigated in carboxylic acids solutions.
II- The second part is the experimental part dealing with the
preparation of Sn, In and their five alloys (0.5%, 2.0%, 5.0%,
10.0% and 20.0% In by atomic weight) electrodes. Full description
of polarization cell, electrolytes (citric, malic, oxalic, HCl and
HClO4 acids solutions) and techniques were given. Also in this
part the preparation of organic inhibitors solutions (adenine,
adenosine and 2, 4, 6 tris (2-pyridyl)-1, 3, 5-triazine) used in this
investigation were stated. The surfaces before and after
experiments were examined by X-ray diffraction and SEM.
III- The third part deals with the results obtained from the figures and
