Abstract RECOMMENDATIONS 4.1 Summary The guest house as a type of the hospitality industry has grown considerably in the past decade providing a new image in the hospitality industry. Indications show that this growth would be maintained in the near future. The guest house depends heavily upon its reputation that can affect its future viability and keep guests coming back. A serious commitment to quality will lead the guest house to represent an outstanding lodging value and assist these properties in achieving operational excellence. The aim of the present study is the development of hospitality services offered in university guest houses. The related literature was reviewed III order to provide a clear understanding of the nature and characteristics of the guest house and the pressures and priorities facing operators within this sector in both commercial and institutional sectors of the hospitality industry. Those located in the commercial sector compete in a free market and are open to all customers and the guest house property exists primarily to make a profit on the sale of its products. whereas the guest house in the institutional sector is primarily meant for university campus and exists for reasons other than to make a profit. This part of the study also sheds light on university guest house abroad to reach a standard of service appropriate for Egyptian university guest houses.
