Abstract This work was carried out on sartorius and gracilis muscles of 85 clinically healthy adult dogs. The examined animals were classified into three Groups: Group I (Anatomical study); Group II (Pedicled sartorius muscle transplantation) and Group III (Free gracilis muscle transplantation). The obtained results revealed that the cranial part of sartorius muscle resembled type II, where a single major pedicle plus three minor pedicles contributed in its vasculature. It used as a pedicle muscle flap for coverage a wound in caudal abdominal region. The vascular pattern of the caudal part mostly resembled type IV where it received a multiple arteries. It did not appear useful as a pedicle muscle flap. The vascular pattern of the gracilis muscle appeared to be type II, where the dominant pedicle and minor pedicle supplied the muscle. It used as free muscle transplantation either orthotopic and heterotopic studies. These muscles were evaluated on clinical picture, clinicopathological, histopathological and angiography studies. |
