Abstract

Two field experiments were carried out at El-Ismailia Agricultural Research Station, Agriculture Research Center (ARC) during 2004 and 2005 seasons. Each experiment included fifteen treatments. The results showed that the treatment of pendimethalin as pre-emergence at recommended rate gave the highest effect over the other treatments especially after 45 days. It gave the highest reduction in number and dry weight of grassy and total weeds/m2. Also the results indicated that the addition of 1500 ml or 1000 ml mineral oil to clethodim at the half rate induced a significant increase in its herbicidal activity compared with its effect at recommended rate only specially against grassy weeds. The results of the influence of tested herbicides (Pre and Post-emergence) on certain growth parameters of peanut showed that all chemicals treatments increased the dry weight of peanut plant, pod yield and yield components, whereas there were no significant effects on the crude protein and oil content in peanut seed between all treatments and unweeded treatment. The allelopathic effect of the highest concentration (75%) of the aqueous extract of purple nutsedge root and common purslane (shoot + root) induced the most inhibitory effect to peanut height of about 28.9% for both weeds and reduced the number of leaves with a value of 50 and 46.9%.
