Abstract
The aim of the present study was to investigate catch techniques used in Port-said Governorate. The main results were:
1. Catch of Mediterranean coast of Port Said fishery during the period from 1992 to 2004 was composed of Sardines.
2. The fish resource of the Mediterranen coast of Port-Said is exploited by three main fishing gears, Purse-seine nets.
3. The number of landings were 12478, 11622, 11640 and 12248 of Purse-seine in seasons 1999 to 2002 respectively.
4. The number of landings were 25930, 39555, 34070 and 32610 of long line in seasons 1999 and 2002 respectively.
5. The catch per effort were 1063.9 , 593.99, 523.3 and 299.1 kg per landing for Purse-seine in seasons 2001 and 2002 respectively.
