Abstract The present study was conducted to investigate some engineering parameters affecting the separation and cleaning of the components of shelled peanut. The results will help to construct a separation and cleaning unit from locally materials and appropriate to the Egyptian varieties. To achieve this goal, some physical and mechanical properties of peanut seeds were studied and some engineering parameters affecting the effectiveness of separation such as: sieve hole diameter, sieve dimensions, oscillation, inclination angle and feed rate were tested. The effect of using the air stream on effectiveness of separation and degree of cleanliness was also investigated. The results show that physical and mechanical properties are importa |
