Abstract Two Field experiments were carried out in sandy soil at the Experimental Research Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Suez Canal University, Ismailia Govemorate. This study was conducted on Chinese garlic (Sids - 40) plants during the winter growing seasons (199912000 and 2000 /2001). It aimed to evaluate the effects of soil dressing with chemical nitrogen levels (0, 40, 80, 120 and 160 kg/fed), either single and I or in combinations with N - biofertilizers (Rhizobacterin) at 2 - 4 kg/fed, on the plant growth, yield and its components, as well as some chemical constituents in bulbs and their storability under normal conditions . The obtained results could be summarized as follows: • Increasing the applied N-fertilizer levels from °to 160 kg/fed led to significant increases in all tested characteristics of plant growth. Besides, application of Nfertilizer levels from 40 up to 120 kg/Fed significantly increased total yield and its components and improved chemical constituents in bulbs and their storability. . Applications of biofertilizer (2- 4 kg/fed) exerted significant increases in plant growth, total yield and its components. Moreover chemical content and storability of bulbs improved compared with the control treatments. Further more, treatment of biofertilizer at 4 kg/fed was more effective than 2 kg/fed . The positive interactions between N-fertilizer levels and biofertilizer (Rhizobacterin) treatments were often observed , Conclusion: The best results were obtained by using 80kgN/fed with biofertilizer at 4 kg / fed under sandy soil condition in Ismailia Region . |
