Abstract Aim of the work To study the role of NO in the pathogenesis of pre-eclampsia. Conclusion Circulating nitrite levels and so NO level were reduced in patients with pre-eclampsia compared with normotensive controls. Recommendations 1- Different dietary precautions, sample preparations, periods after onset of pre-eclampsia and study populations might have caused the differences in both NO2 and NO3 levels. So to completely evaluate the role of nitric oxide in the pathogenesis of pre-eclampsia, more patients should be examined. 2- We recommend that NO is to be taken more seriously into considerations as a marker for this disease and one of the strategies for prevention and treatment in the future. |
