Abstract
This work was carried out in the two successive sea-sons of 1986 and 1987 on mature Roumi Red grapevines grown
in a commercial vineyard located at Fayoum . Roumi Red grape cultivar shows poor berry set and produces a loose cluster. Therefore, it was decided to
test the effect of GA4+7 at 5,10,20 and 40 ppm , SADH at 500,1000,2000 and 3000 ppm and paclobutrazol at 50 ,100,
200 and 300 ppm mainly on berry set and cluster CCXl~)act- ness as well as vegetative growth , cluster
characteristics , yield and fungal diseases and berry The data obtained in the present study may be summ-
arized as follows :
The promoting effect of GA4+7 was pronounced at the highest concentration( 40 ppm) on number of new shoots , shoot length , internode length and nurme r of leaves/shoot, while leaf area was greatly increased by all concentrations of GA4+7 . On the contrary,SADH at 1000-3000 ppm reduced growth vigor and pruning weight.
Also, the inhibi tory effect of paclobutrazol on vege-tative ~rowth and pruning weight was observed at 200
and 300 ppm .
