Abstract The thesis comprises four main parts: Part I This part begins with an introduction about the chemical name, structure, physical properties and pharmacological action of aminoglutethimide (AG). It also contains literature review of the reported methods of analysis of such a drug in biological fluids as well as in pharmaceutical dosage forms. It deals with the application of different analytical methods for spectrophotometric and/or spectrofluorimetric determination of AG. The applied methods included: I- Derivative spectropliotometry It depends on measuring the first and second derivative amplitudes in 0.1 MNaOH. 2- Dimethylaminobenzaldehyde (DMAB) reaction It depends on the reaction of the primary amino group of AG with DMAB reagent to give a yellow-colored Schiff’s base that can be measured colorimetrically at ?m 440 fliTi. 3- Dansyl chloride reaction DANS-Cl reacts with the primary amino group of AG to form a highly fluorescent derivative that can be measured spectrofluorimetrically at ?ex 345 nm and 2cm = 455 nm. |
