المستخلص

Diabetes mellilus (DM) is a common, chronic, metabolic syndrome of disturbed rjzy homeostasis caused by deficiency of insulin or of its action, Resulting in abnormal holism of carbohydrate, fat and protein, cliaraeterized by hyperglycemia as a cardinal iochemica.1 feature.Type 1 DM is the most common endocrine-mclabolic disorder of childhood and lescence, with important consequence on physical and emotional development. The obal incidence of type I diabetes in children and adolescence is increasing with an : ated overall annual increase of around 3%.Patients with diabetes, especially children, are at risk of impaired cognitive functions and behavior. This potentially is due to the subtle brain damage associated with chronic aberrations in levels of blood glucose as well as to the severe acute events these patients sometimes experience. * ’ Individuals with type 1 diabetes have repeatedly been reported to show deficits on a wide range of neuropsychological tests compared with nondiabetic control subjects.
