Abstract The aim of the current study was to re-evaluate the true benefit of some CAM remedies, which are available in the Egyptian market in the acceleration of healing of experimentally induced wounds in male rats. These selected CAM remedies are 3 Egyptian honeys of different floral origins (clover honey, citrus honey and nigella honey) as well as chamomile oil, basil oil and Echinacea dry root extract. Evaluation of these CAM remedies was accomplished by assessing the acceleration of wound healing. The anti-catabolic effects of these remedies were also assessed by measuring the percentage change in body weight and various biochemical parameters in the rats’ blood and serum as well as the liver and kidneys. The following are the main findings and conclusions of this study. |
