Abstract

Humanity evolved since the appearance of human beings, a lot of changes occurred in living styles , cultures , needs and concepts , these changes had great reflection on architecture beginning with human habitat in caves then the simple traditional home until leading to skyscrapers and intelligent houses .
All the evidences and variables around us emphasizes that humanity is passing to a new era completely different from the previous historical eras. This era is neither an extension of the industrial age nor a use of more communication technologies or computers but the next era carries with it basic changes in life style, systems and human values .These incidences are not just developments or modifications to the actual industrial society but a pretreatment to the logic of this society and results in the creeping of a new logic to the information society. What interests us in this field is following these changes and observing the changes that affects us negatively or positively in the different fields especially to the house.
The main aim of the research is to emphasize on the importance of working on coinciding the futuristic changes and developing the concepts of architecture specially housing , work , education , media and social relationships in order to match the anticipated futuristic change specially the home that gained a great importance after the victory of information revolution so that it doesn’t only depend on our inheritance from the past but it depends on what the inhabitants of the house need in the future, therefore the study has concentrated upon 3 parts :
Part 1: Demonstrating the old futuristic vision for the house of tomorrow in the last century and the factors affecting it.
Part 2: Identifying the changes that the information technology have done to the home and in design and construction
Part 3: Studying the New futuristic visions for future house.

This chapter presents a quick show to the stages that the humanity passed through and the importance of this show is not only identifying the most important achievements of each era but also noticing the speed of these changes, especially in the last period of development with the appearance of the information age. With expressing stages relatively, it showed how fast these changes which the humanity is passing through now in the age of information comparing it with the slow developments in the ancient civilizations and also providing the reader with information helping him to put a comparison base between the traditional house design criteria and the future one.
The Researcher demonstrates in this chapter the visions of the architects in the last century, where the continuous interest to know the future always worried thinkers and since then architects and designers have brought forth their visions of the home of the future and created them for exhibitions and world fairs celebrating the latest technological housing progress
And the endless possibilities of the new. They worked on liberating the traditional ideas of the home and embraced new concepts with sleek facades and open interiors they also worked on using unconventional materials that was not used before and showed off all new in the housing technology .
In this chapter the researcher studies the post war futuristic visions of the house of the future until the end of the century and the factors affecting these ideas at each period of time.
This chapter discusses the new importance that the house has gained after the victory of the information revolution , where the home was considered in the past as a quiet isolated place, far from work but due to the creeping of the information revolution from computers and communications and information , the human being will have the ability to work from any place specially his dwelling which will help him to overcome the problems that was made by the detachment of work and home system which for example led to traffic problems specially in the center of cities. It also gives the opportunity for more people from the society to share and work specially the accessible / disabled people and old people .All of that will lead to appearance of a new need inside the home which is called ”workplace” in addition of the importance of connecting the home with information networks utilities and cables a basic utility just like water and electricity supplies. The communication technologies have made a noticeable change in the concepts of shopping where the internet have transformed shopping to the home. This will lead to reduction in the shopping areas and parking and diverse the web delivery services that will make people in charge to think about finding new ways of delivery without the need of the presence of a guard and using the web boxes system.
By entering the information age and with the great progresses that the communication technologies have reached, all of that led to change in the concepts of space, time, human relationships, where the person seems to be living now as if in a one small world. That puts a burden on the shoulders of the architect and the designer in general to find new ways of designing and construction to coincide the needs of this age. In this chapter the researcher presents some researches that have been made for the future of design and construction of the future house in the age of information such as: Automated participatory design, mass customization, chassis and infill system. This new construction will have a great significance in energy conservation and renewing the energy of the home. The change of construction in housing will lead to using new unconventional materials that haven’t been used before such as smart materials.
Due to these new ways of design and construction, a lot of new ideas that were not there before invade a new world called the world of manufacturing of home just as manufacturing of computers and from then new ideas such as intelligence, sustainability, flexibility, tans generational and more .In spite of all these futuristic ideas that may impact the home in
The future, there are still some architects that are estimating that we will be living in domes or straw bale house and earth sheltered homes.
The transportation through the communication networks will give the opportunity to find new architectural solutions that will have an impact on the way of living and urban life .The researcher displays a collection of experimental work that is considered as trials to match and coincide the age we are living in. A lot of researchers and architects work on developing the concepts of architecture in order to match and coincide the futuristic changes so as not to be forced on us such as what happened in the period of modernism and post modernism and this can be done through developing the concepts of city planning and housing so that it will not depend on what we have inherited only from the past but depends on what the future needs. The future of architecture doesn’t depend only on the ability of the architect artistically, scientifically but it also depends on the civilization, cultural, economical, social status of the community and all what is related to this is related to the scientific and technological achievements from one side and the civilization roots from another.
Changes in the social and economical systems depending completely on the information and communication revolution are expected to take place. The current societies provide means of exchanging social, economical, political, cultural interests through the public buildings. On the other hand, in the information age society, the cyber space will take over the materialistic space in providing communication and information exchange between people. All of these changes will have a clear impact on the nature of the house and its importance .
