Abstract A total of 93 samples of precooked frozen meals were collected from ships at Alexandria sea port. The samples were frozen meat meals, frozen chicken meals and frozen fish meals (31 from each). The samples were transferred directly to the laboratory where they were examined microbiologically. The results revealed that: 1. The total aerobic bacterial count of frozen meat meals, frozen chicken meals and frozen fish meals were ranged from 8x102 to 5x105, 5x102 to 1.2x104 and 4x103 to 2x105 with an average of 1.12x104± l.9x103, 5.1x103± 6.11x102 and 4.36x104± 8.85x103 cfulg, respectively. 2. The difference between the total aerobic bacterial counts of frozen meat meals, frozen chicken meals and frozen fish meals was highly significant at p O.O5. 3. The total psychrotrophic count of frozen meat meals, frozen chicken meals and frozen fish meals were ranged from 1 .1x102 to 7.8x104, 1x102 to 9.8x103 and 4x102 to 9.5x103 with a mean value of 1.24x104± 3.6x103, 3.55x103± 5.4lx102 and 3.61x103 ± 4.55x102 cfulg, respectively. |
