Abstract Epidemiological studies were applied, in this work fnr the detection of fascioliasis in man and domestic animals at Sharkia Governorate. EXPERIMENT I A total of 1086 patients that were attending various tropical medical clinics at Sharkia Governorate were examined. The occurrence of human fascioliasis was 15 cases with a percentage of 1.38. Patients have been divided into two m3in groups: Grou p (1) : Constituted 836 patients that were investi- gated using stool analysis. Sera were separated from patient’s blood that proved to have Fasciola eggs in their stool to be diagnosed serologically. 8 patients were shedding Fasciola eggs in their stool and were positive serologically against F. gigantica adult worm antigen using counterimmunoelectro~horesis test (C.I.E.P). Group (2): Cbnstituted 250 patients that were investi- gated by stool analysis and’serodiagnosis. 3 patients were shedding Fasciola eggs in their stool and were also carrying the specific antibodies against Fasciola gigantica adult worm antigen in their sera. Another 4 patients were carrying specific antibodies against F. gigantica antigen and were not shedding F. eggs in their |
