Abstract In conclusion it is evident that topically administered non-selective B-adrenoceptor blockers as timolol adversely affect MAP. Heart rate and lipid profile. Consequently, care is always required in patients with cardiac diseases treated by tiimolol. In addition , as it reduces the level of HDL and increases triglycerides, it can increase the incidence of vascular complications, particulary in patients with atherosclerosis or coronary heart diseases. So, careful monitoring of serum lipid levels is advised with long-term treatment by timolol and caution must be taken in patients with previous history of coronary heart diseases. |
