Abstract

Heterocyclic annelated pyridazines continue to attract considerable attention which mainly arises from the large variety of interesting pharmacological activities observed with pyridazine derivatives. The recent discovery of a natural antifungal antibiotic containing this heteroarene system (Pyridazinomycin) most probably will stimulate even broader interest in 1,2-diazine chemistry. In connection with these facts and my interest in the synthetic potential of fused pyridazine systems, the purpose of the present study was to synthesize a series of them for pharmacological evaluation.
The objective of this study are:
1- The first part of this work was concerned with the photolysis of 3-diazo-4,5-diphenylpyrazolo[3,4-c]pyridazine in different reagents.
2- In the second part of this investigation, the photochemical reactions of 3-azido-4,5-diphenyl-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-c]pyridazine in different reagents was studied.
3- The third part of this work was concerned with the synthesis of 3-hydrazino-4,5-diphenyl-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-c]pyridazine and study its reactions with different reagents.
4- To investigate any mechanistic information which may be generated during the course of this work.
5- Extension of the synthetic scope of these reactions are under study.
