Abstract

Buffaloes constitute the main dairy animal but it’s have been characterized with low reproductive efficiency and this constitutes a major impediment for its productive performance of both milk and meat, so this study was carried out on (167) parturient buffaloes ranging from 2nd to the 5th calving , and were used to study the effect of post partum injection of Prostaglandin, Oxytocin, Methergin, Levamisole, Betadine, Oxytetracycline on the days required for complete uterine involution and initiation of ovarian and cyclic activity together with the subsequent reproductive performance of the treated buffaloes.
The involved animals were allotted in to 15 groups according to the followed applied regime:-
Group(1):Eleven buffalo- cows received I.M injection of Prostaglandin, at -0- hour post partum.
Group (2):Twelve buffalo- cows received I.M injection of Oxytocin, at -0- hour post partum.
Group (3): Eleven buffalo- cows received I.M injection of Methergin, at -0- hour post partum.
Group (4): Twelve buffaloe- cows received S.C injection of Levamisole, at the day 0,2,4 post partum.
Group (5):Fifteen buffalo- cows received intrauterine injection of Oxytetracycline, at -0-post partum.
Group (6):Ten buffalo- cows received intrauterine injection of Betadine, at the day -0- hour post partum.
Group (7):Nine buffalo- cows received both I.M injection of Prostaglandin + intrauterine injection of Oxytetracycline, at the day -0-post partum.
Group (8):Twelve buffalo- cows received both I.M prostaglandin + intrauterine injection of Betadine, at -0- hour post partum.
Group (9):Eleven buffalo- cows received both I.M injection of Prostaglandin at -0- hour post partum+ S/C injection of Levamisole, at the day 0,2,4 post partum.
Group (10):Eleven buffalo- cows received both I.M injection of Oxytocin+ intrauterine injection of Oxytetracycline, at the -0- hour post partum.
Group (11):Ten buffalo- cows received both I.M injection of Oxytocin+ intrauterine injection of Betadine, at the -0- hour post partum.
Group (12):Fourteen buffalo- cows received both I.M injection of Oxytocin at -0- day post partum+ S/C injection of Levamisole, at the day 0,2,4 post partum.
Group (13):Seven buffaloe- cows received both I.M injection of Methergine + intrauterine injection of Oxytetracycline, at the -0- hour post partum.
Ggroup (14):Nine buffalo- cows received both I.M injection of Methergine + intrauterine injection of Betadine, at the -0- hour post partum.
Ggroup(15):Thirteen buffalo- cows received both I.M injection of Methergine at -0- hour post partum +S/C injection of Levamisole at the day 0,2,4 post partum.
And with the statistical analysis of the obtained data it revealed the following:-
I-According to the effect of treatment it was revealed that:-
1- the shortest time of placental dropping recorded in group (11) that treated with Oxytocin and Betadine and it was (3.400 ± 0.221 h) .
2-The shortest time needed for complete uterine involution recorded in group (4) which treated with Methergin and Levamisole it was (28.00 ± 0.41 days) .
3-The shortest time from calving to first estrus recorded in group (9) which was treated with prostaglandin and levamisole and it was (55.18 ± 2.51 days) .
4-The lowest days open period recorded in group (7) that treated with prostaglandin + Oxytetracycline and it was (59.44 ± 2.68 days).
5- the lowest number of service/ conception was recorded in group (7) which was treated with prostaglandin and Oxytetracycline and it was(1.11±0.11). .
6-the highest conception rate recorded in group (7) which trealed with prostaglandin + Oxytetracycline and it was (88.89 ± 11.11%) .
II-According to the effect of farm it was revealed that:-
1-The shortest time needed for placental dropping recorded in farm (2) and it was (3.60 ± 0.10) .
2-The shortest time needed for complete uterine involution recorded in farm (1) and it was (29.12 ± 0.12 days) .
3-The shortest time farm calving to first estrus recorded in farm (1) and it was (60.81 ± 1.09) days.
4-The lowest days open period recorded in farm (1) and it was (70.94 ± 1.45 days)
5-The lowest number of service/ conception recorded in farm (2) and it was (1.42 ± 0.1).
6-The highest conception rate was recorded in farm (1) and it was (64.71 ± 4.40%)
III-According to the effect of calving month it was revealed that:-
1-The shortest time needed for placental dropping recorded in month of May and it was 3 hours.
2-The shortest time needed for complete uterine involution recorded in month of August and it was (28.81 days) .
3-The shortest time farm calving to first estrus recorded in month of May and it was (54.00 ± 7.00) days.
4-The shortest days open period recorded in month of June and it was (58.00 ± 4.00) days.
5-The lowest number of service/ conception recorded in month of June August and September and it was (1.00) .
6-The highest conception rate was recorded in month of June, August and September and it was 100% .
IV-According to the effect of calving Season it was revealed that:-
1-The shortest time needed for placental dropping recorded in season (u) autumn season and it was (3.53 ± 0.12 hours) .
2-The shortest time needed for complete uterine involution recorded in Spring season (2) and it was (29.04 ± 0.19 days)
3-The shortest time from calving to first estrus recorded in Spring season (2) and it was (59.23 ± 1.71 days) .
