Abstract VI-Summary This work was crried out to survey the Salmonella infection in table egg layer farms including birds in laying and rearing ages together with other surroundings including, rodents, feed and feed ingredient, followed by evaluation of the behaviour of live salmonella vaccine in turkeys field trial and in male layer type chIcks. Evaluation of efficacy of live and killed salmonella vaccine was made in an experimental infection against shedding and colonization in the internal organs with with rthe cdhalienge strain (SF26), together with monitoring of the antibody titer before and after challenge. The results were summarized as following: 1-Out of 22 examined table egg layer flocks with a total of 11 samples of feed and feed ingredients with a total of 23 rodents of various types, a total of 9 suspected salmonella isolates were recovered. The suspected 9 salmonella isolates were: two isolates from laying flocks(SE and S.typhimurium), two isolates from rearing flocks(SE), one isolate from concentrate(SE) and four isolates from rodents(SE, S .typhimurium&Untypable salmonella isolate). 2-Shedding of live vaccine in turkey field trial began from theist day post th I vaccination and disappeared cor.ipletely at 10 day accompined by moderate means of titer in the second ond third week post vaccination. 3- Shedding of live vaccine in male layer type chicks continued till the 10th1 day post vaccination with lower mean titer than turkey glocks. 4-Shedding of the challeng organism (SE26) was higher to all groups in the 1st week post I.M chaalenge, which decreased markedly in the next week post I.M challenge and in the two wekks post oral challenge which may be due to the route of infection or the time factor from vaccination and challenge as protection was easly seen in the vaccinated with some perority to local bacterin group, one week post 1.M challenge which was equal to 3 weeks post vaccination. |
