Abstract The present experimental work aimed to study the effect of immobilization stress on the reproductive efficiency of the female rats. The work was carried out in 3 experiments: The first experiment: It was divided into 2 items: a. It included assessment of some reproductive parameters (estrous cycle regularity and conception rate) of female rats under the effect of naloxone after immobilization stress. The female rats were allocated into 4 groups: saline, stress, naloxone and naloxone plus stress groups. b. It included assessment of some reproductive parameters (estrous cycle regularity and conception rate) of female rats under the effect of vitamin E after immobilization stress. The female rats were allocated into 4 groups: corn oil, stress, vitamin E and vitamin E plus stress groups. - The rats were immobilized for 4 hours daily for 4 consecutive days. — Naloxone was injected daily subcutaneously at a dose of 0.2 mg/kg b.wt. for 4 consecutive days. - Vitamin E was injected daily subcutaneously at a dose of 30 mg/kg b.wt. for 4 consecutive days. - Blood samples were taken at the end of treatment, 3, 7 and 12 days posttreatment for biochemical and haematological studies. |
