Abstract
DNA or deoxyribonucleic acid is the ultimate molecule of life. The instruction that direct human cells to grow, to differentiate into specialized structures , to divide and to respond to environmental changes are all encoded within the human DNA genome . exposure to DNA damaging agents or as intermediates in normal cellular processes, creates a severe threat for the integrity of the genome.
DNA repair is essential, for the maintenance of genomic integrity consequently, altered repair capacity may impact individual health in such areas as aging and susceptibility to certain diseases.
The present study aimed to study DNA damage and repair in neonates both healthy and diseased including the effect of growth, infection and illness in relation to maternal risk factors.
