Abstract

A thetntica1 model was dew10ped in Older to simulate the actual cycle foe a four¬stroke direct-injection diesel ~, The effect of the overlap period was tab:o into oonsideratioo. to eosure that the complete cycle accuracy does not exceed 0.1 K. A cycle to cycle iteratioo. loop bad been applied in Clder’to e1lmirude the initial assmnptioo. emrB. The simuJation model was also developed to study the effect of the pilot-injectioo. on the in-cy1indtz perameters.
‎The heat reJease analysis in this model is baed On a single-zooe thermodynamic model that coosiden the cylinder’ oootflflbi to be a hcmogeoeous ideal gas mixture of air, fuel-vapor, and p:oducts of combuatioo.. The resolutioo. during cycle calcu1atioo. is me degree CZ1II1kAngJe, and less than 0.125 degree during the heat release calcuJatioos to ensure high degree of aocuracy. The effect of operating cooditiOO8 such as fIfl~ speed, ~oo. ratio, injectioo. timing. injectioo. ~ and excess air ratio on the in-cy1indtz perameters such as pressure, tet. ~ture, beat transfer coefficient and beet release rate have al80 been studied.
‎Applying the flinn1JAhon model,oo. actual ~ experimmtal data shows a good ~ foe the result oftbe in-cy1indtz perameters. Also the .imulatioo. model is 8f:DIitive for predj~8 pilot injectioo. ~ The propec pilot injectioo timt”8, and the optinnun pilot fuel quantity are a1ao investigated ..
