Abstract The present study was conducted to evaluate the sanitary condition of water used in 37 dairy farms in Behera, Alexandria, Kafer — El—Shiekh and Ka.Luobia Governorates. Ninety six water samples were examined che— rnically and bacteriologically. The chemical analysis revealed the following results: 1— The pH values varied from 6 to 9 and 97.9% of the samples were within the level recommended by W.H.O. (1971). 2— Ammonia concentration ranged from zero to 1.9 mg/L., and 51% of the samples lied within the permissible limit. 3— The chloride content was between 6.1 and 160 mg/L and all of the samples met the international standards for drinking water. 4— The total hardness varied from 98 to 504mg/L and 9709% of the samples met the international standards for drinking water. |
