Abstract
Cochlear implantation has revolutionized the treatment of sensorineural hearing loss. It has become the treatment of choice. The majority of patients report enhanced quality of life, and a high number of patients report open set speech recognition (Bodmer et al., 2007).
In this study, we aimed to make our target more precise to compare the preimplantation and the postimplantation speech discrimination scores for evaluation of the results of unilateral, fresh cochlear implantation in post lingual adult patients with sensorineural hearing loss, in absence of any other specific conditions that were mentioned in various excluded articles.
We excluded all bilateral cochlear implantation, revision cochlear implantation or cochlear implantation which was done in children, prelingual adult or existence of specific conditions mentioned with cochlear implantation. We also excluded the incomplete studies and articles involving less than 10 subjects.
