Abstract

In the recent years, the knitting industry witnessed a number of rewarding technological advances that have transformed knitting from an art a more efficient industrial technique. A lot of yarn, machine , finishing process parameters as well as environment affect the properties of the knitted fabric and also the degree of fabric quality and its appearance . in the review of literature some work has been done on the effect of some knitting yarn and machine parameters on the physical and mechanical properties of knitted fabrics. The mechanism of loop formation is also studied and discussed. Properties and dimensional changes of single jersey and rib fabrics are studied. An attempt to predict the specification and properties of knitted single jersey and rib fabrics through a database is designed with the aid of both regression analysis and an artificial intelligent technique. Also a database able to predict the favorable yarn and machine conditions required for knitting from predetermined specifications and properties of a knitted single jersey and rib fabric is also established.
These models present a great contribution to the able to cope with the current demands of JIT and QR with the aim to reduce the costs and the consumption of raw material in the experimental trials associated with the different orders.
