Abstract Parentral narcotic addicts are prime subjects for the development of both acute and chronic hepatitis B. Delta infection which may occur concomitant with an acute bout of hepatitis B or during the course of chronic carrier state has also been shown to be common among drug addicts. Other categories of addicts namely chronic alcoholics and heroin user by sniffing or smoking have shown high hepatitis B and hepatitis D infection rates. |
