Abstract Aqueous solutions of acids are among the most corrosive media. Acid solutions are widely used in industry. The choice of aluminium as a working example, is based on the fact that it is a reactive metal that belongs to the class of amphoteric metals. Because of the general aggresivity of acid solution , the practice of inhibition is commonly used to reduce and control the corrosive attack. The work in this thesis consists of two main parts, the first one deals with the study of the inhibition characteristics of some triazoline derivatives for the acid corrosion of aluminium both chemically and electrochemically. The second part, is a study of the effect of heat treatment on the inhibition of acid corrosion of aluminium-copper alloy using triazoline derivatives as inhibitors. The effect of heat treatment on the corrosion behaviour of Al-Cu alloy was studied also chemically and electrochemically. The chemical measurements were performed on polished, washed and ultrasonically degreased rods. Samples weight was compared before and after immersion in the test solution while the evolved hydrogen gas was collected and measured during the experiment. |
