Abstract Four experiments, using 140 male albino rats, were conducted to study the adverse effects of some drugs used in the treatment of the heart diseases. The experiment (I), orally given distilled water, was the control; the experiment (H), orally given the therapeutic (2.7 mg/rat) and double therapeutic (5.4 mg/rat) doses of cordarone (gps 1 and 2); the experiment (Ill), orally given therapeutic (0.4 mg/rat) and double therapeutic (0.8 mg/rat) doses of inderal (gps 3 and 4) and the experiment (IV), orally given the therapeutic (0.13 mg/rat) and double therapeutic (0.26 mg/rat) doses of dinitra (gps 5 and 6), respectively. These rats were sacrificed 3 and 6 months P A (l0 rats/ each gp). The choice of doses and durations were based upon the selected doses for human patients and calculated for rats. The adverse effects of these drugs were evaluated by the mortality rates, clinical signs, gross andhistopathological findings. |
