Abstract

Nowadays, information technology is playing an important role in the development of many industries, especially the pharmaceutical industry which is one of the strategic industries in Egypt.
One of the most important factors in the pharmaceutical industry is product management. The major significant characteristic of most past research activities in pharmaceutical product management is their dedication to build databases and decision support systems rather than building expert systems.
Using expert systems in pharmaceutical product management seems more natural because product management requires taking managerial decisions which highly depend on the human expertise which very expense and hard to be found , While expert system is a very power tool which tries to gain an understanding of how humans experts solve problems.
Expert systems have the ability to provide expert advice to non-experts, assist experts ID solve problems and to act as a training tool for non-experts. That made expert systems almost coincides with the level of performance that is achieved by the human experts.
This thesis is devoted to designing and implementing an expert system for pharmaceutical product management in the Egyptian market that can advice, analyze, diagnose, explain and justify . The system is supported with a database for the Egyptian Pharmaceutical companies and the Pharmaceutical products in the Egyptian market. The pharmaceutical product management expert system is suitable for real time practical ^jplications and for training purposes.
