Abstract This study was performed on 30 children with bilateral hearing impairment. All are Egyptians, from the out patient clinic of Menoufiya university hospital. The age range of these children is from 4 to 10 years. IQ score was at least 90. language is expressed in the form of speech not sign language. No motor impairment or oral structure deviation affecting speech or non-speech movement of articulators. No history of psychological disorders, nor frank bneurological disorder such as mental retardation. Seizure disorder, or brain injury. They is not taking any medications for any chronic disease. All were Native Arabic speaker with Arabic as the primary language spoken at home. Our studied cases were grouped according to their dgree of hearing impairment, based on the pure tone average of the better ear, into moderate (41-55dB HL) (n=13), and moderate-severe (56-70dB HL) (n=17). A control group of 30 children of normal hearing matched for the same chronological age was selected from abo-Bakr primary school in Menouf-menoufiya governorate Egypt language assessment for those children was carried out using Arabic. |
