Abstract

Air pollution is one of the major problems encountered in the majority of the cities of the world. It has direct as well as indirect effects on all living organisms including the public health, a matter that has a direct impact on the national income of the countries.
Alexandria City is one of the important industrial cities, which has a strategic location in Egypt, as it is an important marine port. To cope with international development the industrial expansion, made a considerable increase in air emission, in addition to the pollution that already exists and which aggravates the impact on all living organisms. Therefore, it became a necessity to react with law 4/1994 issued from EEAA, which imply accurate monitoring of air pollutants and comparing them with the standards included in the law to limit air pollution, as some of these pollutants affect the green house phenomena. Consequently, the assessment of these pollutants is an intact part of any program concerned with the control of air pollutants.
To form a geographic map upon which the different pollutants are identified, we had to monitor the different pollutants and collecting these data from different sources, which measured and found in chapter II, and III.
To achieve this, we had to do the following:
1- Self-monitoring of air pollutants in Alexandria City (Total Suspended Particulate -Heavy Metals).
[2- Establishing a network for automatically monitoring air pollutants (SO2, NO2, and Particulate having a size of 10 um and less) in Alexandria City, using five stations distributed over the city including a station for monitoring meteorological parameters and ozone.
