Abstract Prior to the economic reform program in Egypt, public sector companies working in the transport sector obtain their capital funds from the state budget. Since these companies began working under the umbrella of the public business sector, they became responsible for their investment needs. Because of this, these companies began to think how to lower the total costs or to increase their revenues or both. One way to do this was the disposal of non-profitable vehicles as a means of reforming the investment structure. Because of the lack of funds, they chose to completely rehabilitated vehicles which had reached their life-time horizon, rather than purchasing new vehicles. At the same time, those companies could not identify their actual future objectives due to their present environment and unsatisfactory conditions. |
