Abstract The present work aimed to study the different morphological abnormalities in both testicular and epididymal spermatozoa and throw light on the incidence of each type of such abnormalities in the testis and different parts of the epididymis. Besides, biometry of sperms were assessed in both testes and epididymis (caput, corpus and cauda) in Friesian bulls. The study was carried out on testes and epididymis of 57 Friesian bulls aging from 2-3 years. Samples (sperm cell samples) were -collected from testes and epididymis (caput, corpus and cauda) of all bulls. The known methods and two types of stains (Alkaline methyl violet and Eosin-Nigrosin) were used after dilution of both testicular and epdidymal seminal content with 2.9% sodium citrate dihydrate. The sperm cell samples were examined for morphological abnormalities. Sperm cell morphology and biometry of spermatozoa were detected. The results of the present study revealed the following: A. Sperm cell morphology include the following abnormalities: 1. Free head: the mean incidence was (7.74 ± 0.22 %) and there was a significant difference (P<0.05) between spermatozoa from testes and epididymis. |
