Abstract

‎Summary
‎This thesis discusses the absorptions of gases in general aspects and absorption of gases used in acid productions like Nitric and Sulphuric acid and the possibilities of absorption processes used in petroleum and chemical industries the theatrical part shows the nitric acid processes and its flow sheet.
‎The absorption towers and their operations and chemical reaction mechanisms especially for nitric acid chemical reactions mechanisms were discussed.
‎The absorption of nitric oxide in water was discussed by considering the simple model for this absorption operation.A literature survey of this process in modem researches in international universities was done.
‎A mathematical model of this process and nitric acid formation by using Matlab 7 and simulink program to produce 60%w. was done.
‎The results were discussed like distribution of nitric acid concentrations over the trays. The equilibrium curve of nitric aid and nitric oxide gas absorption was compared with the actual results.
‎The results from the simulink program were very close to the actual results.
‎The calculations of the perforated trays were done through the column and the model of N02 absorption and HN03 formation was developed and applied for the 37 tray.
‎The different operation parameters of the absorber were explaind • The suggested mathematical model was developed and applied to all the trays by material balance.
‎The concentration of the nitric acid on trays was calculated and the mole % of the reacted N02 gases by using the actual results.
‎The absorbent liquid water counter current flow to the nitrogen gases. The reaction happens on the surface of the perforated plate and the remained gases after reaction on a tray moves to the upper tray but in a lower concentration.
‎The nitric acid formed on the same tray moves to the lower tray but in a higher concentration until tray no one.
‎The is produced and nitrogen gases keeps moving from one tray to another until tray no 37 till it becomes a tail gases.
